Resources
- Graduate Assistantships are open to all regularly admitted students pursuing a Master's or Doctoral degree. There are a varying number of assistantships available with each graduate program and in particular departments/offices across the University. Positions are awarded by the Assistant Vice President and Dean of Graduate Studies and Research upon the recommendation of the Graduate Program Coordinators or GA supervisors.
- Students are granted assistantships for one semester at a time. The appointment and continuation of an assistantship will depend upon good academic standing (minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 prior to appointment and in each semester of appointment), favorable evaluation by the faculty supervising the assistantship and recommendation of the Graduate Program Coordinator. Graduate students who have an assistantship in one program/office are not eligible for an assistantship in a second program/office.
- CU assistantships are half-time (20 hours per week), quarter-time (10 hours per week), or eighth-time (5 hours per week). Students are required to work 15 weeks in the Fall and Spring semesters, and 12 weeks in the Summer semester. Eighth-time and quarter-time assistants must carry a minimum of nine (9) credits of graduate coursework and half time GA’s are required to carry a minimum of six (6). Both quarter and half-time assistantships provide a six (6) credit tuition waiver per semester and eighth-time assistantships provide a three (3) credit tuition waiver [non PA residents pay out-of-state tuition and fees]. The waiver does not include undergraduate prerequisite courses, activity fees, health fees, student union fees, recreational fees, or any other charges incurred.
