- Quest is proud of our brand new 70ft climbing tower as the centerpiece for our outdoor adventure course on upper campus! The climbing tower has many ways to climb to the top, from easy cruiser climbing up the front slab to challenging and adventurous climbing on the overhung sections. At the top, you can stand on a platform under the massive roof and look out over the treetops unlike anywhere else in Bloomsburg.
- Within the woods we offer not one, but two zip lines in a full circuit. Our zip lines fly through the woods, providing a fun and exhilarating experience right here on campus!
- We provide the gear you need from harnesses, helmets, and other hardware with experienced staff to run you through the courses. We only ask that you wear close-toed shoes and bring a positive attitude to try something new and exciting!
- We run all of our white water rafting trips on the Lehigh River inside the Lehigh Gorge State Park. The river is great for anyone from beginners to experienced folks looking for some fun. Travel 9 miles of river with rapids ranging from class one to class 3 for a fun day on the river!
- We provide you with lifejackets and any cold water gear you might need! This might include a wetsuit, splash guard, or neoprene booties. All of the necessary gear you might need to enjoy a fun, warm, and safe day on the water.
- Expect to get wet as you and your crew paddle down the river listening to paddle commands from your captain, an experienced Quest White Water Guide! We do ask all participants to wear close-toed shoes and synthetic fibers (cotton gets cold when it’s wet). Don’t forget to bring lunch and water, better if it’s a reusable water bottle with a loop so that we can strap it to the boat. We usually stop a little before halfway to have some lunch before we get back on the river to finish our excursion. On the river, there are no bathrooms but we will usually recommend going right before we get on the river and at takeout at the facilities provided!
- Quest rock climbing trips are designed to provide a fun and unique experience to climbers of all skill levels, including those who have never climbed before! Rock climbing is a fun adventure for everyone. It can be as easy or challenging as you'd like at our climbing areas.
- Whether you have never climbed before, or you’re an avid climber, we will provide the guides to set up all of the climbs and to belay you as you climb to the top. We will have helmets and harnesses for you to use to safely navigate up the rocks. We will also provide climbing shoes and chalk which make climbing easier. The shoes have rubber designed to stick to the rock and to make it easier to step on ledges with your toes! Chalk is beneficial to keep your hands dry and to help you stick to the rocks. If you have any of your own gear, we encourage you to bring it.
- Last but not least, it’s a good idea to have lunch, water, and some good snacks to keep your energy and stoke up while you’re enjoying a day in the woods climbing with fun people!
- Our caving trips are designed to take you into the raw beauty that is the natural, underground ecosystem! Setup to be beginner friendly, our caving trips will take you underground to see natural formations like stalagmites, stalactites, and so much more. While there will be tight spaces, most of the rooms we will be in are large enough to stand with “challenge holes” if you want a little more adventure for your experience.
- You should expect to at least have to crawl through several passages. You will also get muddy, but that’s the fun of it! Out of our two traditional caves, one is considered wet and one dry. Carnegie, our wet cave, has a pool room where the water could be up to your knees while Henigh, our dryer cave, won’t have puddles but the mud still won’t disappoint!
- Whether you're on a fall or spring trip, the cave will be about 60 degrees all year round. We ask that you wear a long sleeve, long pants, and an old pair of shoes that you don't mind getting dirty! While in the cave, we will all have 3 light sources, as these caves are in natural, complete darkness if our lights go out. This usually includes a headlamp, a handheld light, and extra batteries. If you don’t have any, they will be provided along with helmets and gloves. We wear helmets to protect our heads when we bump them on rocks, but the gloves are to protect the caves. The oils on our hands and arms are harmful to the life within the cave so we don’t touch anything with bare skin.
- Take a beautiful hike and sleep under the stars with Quest! Experience the backcountry around Pennsylvania in its natural beauty. We will hike, cook dinner in the backcountry, bond as a group, and sleep in tents under the canopy of the trees. These trips are designed to be beginner friendly, but backpacking is a very physical activity as you are hiking with weight in a backpack.
- Quest Backpacking trips are three day excursions through the woods. We pick you up Friday after classes, drive to our location (usually about an hour), and begin our hike. We will usually hike 2-3 miles the first night to camp before we pitch our tents and cook dinner. After dinner, we will recommend turning in to get a full night’s rest for our next full day of hiking. We will usually wake up around 8am to have breakfast and clean up camp. By 9, we will hit the trails and aim to do about 8 miles before breaking to pitch camp and make dinner at 5 or 6pm. Then Sunday, we will wake up and do it all again with another 7-8 miles before we take you back to campus.
- Quest will provide dinner both nights, and you are responsible for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. We will provide you with the backpacks, tents, ground pads, sleeping bags, headlamps, trekking poles and any other gear needed for this activity. We will meet ahead of time to talk about layering for the expected weather and to help you pack the bags without overpacking. On course, you will have two experienced guides to teach you how to pitch a tent, cook dinner, and anything else you might need help with including bathrooms in the backcountry.
- Experience the Sunset while paddling down the Susquehanna! Enjoy an easy kayaking experience for new kayakers or experienced kayakers while the sun sets. Our experienced guides are there to teach you whatever you need!
- Quest will provide transportation, headlamps, kayaks, paddles, and lifejackets. If the weather calls for it, we will also provide wetsuits, splashguards, and neoprene booties!
- We ask that you wear synthetic fibers (cotton stays cold if it gets wet) and close-toed shoes that you are comfortable with getting wet. You are welcome to bring a light dinner or snack to eat while on the river and you should bring a water bottle.
- Enjoy the beauty of the Waterfalls at Rickets Glen or the Scenic Overlook out at World's End on a hike with Quest. Take a beginner friendly hike with some friends or make some new ones.
- Hikes can range from 4-7 miles depending on location. Wear a smart pair of shoes for hiking, boots if you have them. Pennsylvania terrain tends to be rocky, so you might appreciate some ankle support. You will also want lunch and water to go with trail snacks. Salty and sweet are good snacks to keep your energy up while hiking.
- Quest will provide guides, maps, and trekking poles if needed for that extra support while hiking.
- Nothing is as magnificent a view as the Frozen Waterfalls at Rickets Glen! Take a Frozen Waterfall Hike with Quest in the spring to see the beauty of these frozen waterfalls ranging from 5 feet to 95 feet tall! These trips are a Spring semester experience only as we only have a small window for when they will be frozen.
- A proper layering system to stay warm is the secret to a fun winter experience. We usually recommend a fleece or synthetic base layer like thermal pants and long sleeves. Next, a warm shirt and pants that will stay dry for your midlayer. We will be hiking in snow, so snow pants are a great option as they also serve as a hardshell layer. A fleece jacket sweater or puffy jacket is an ideal layer as they will keep you warm and dry. Last, you want a hardshell on top. This should be windproof and waterproof, like rain or snow gear. Consider that you will get warm when hiking, so having a bag to store layers that you pull on and off is helpful. You will also want gloves and a scarf to cover your face and hands.
- Quest will provide all of the necessary winter gear such as mountaineering boots for warm feet, crampons for hiking on ice, ice axes for navigating frozen paths, and trekking poles as needed. Your guides will also set up handlines for the locations where it might be more slippery than other locations as needed.
- Enjoy a day in the sun on the Susquehanna paddling a kayak. Designed to be a beginner experience in a kayak, or a relaxing day even for an experienced kayaker.
- Quest will provide transportation, kayaks, paddles, and lifejackets. If the weather calls for it, we will also provide wetsuits, splashguards, and neoprene booties!
- We ask that you wear synthetic fibers (cotton stays cold if it gets wet) and close-toed shoes that you are comfortable with getting wet. You should bring lunch and snacks to eat while on the river and you should bring a water bottle.
