Coaching (Minor)

This Health and Physical Education minor in Coaching is a collaboration with Sport Management faculty to offer students courses to strengthen their marketability as coaches and to provide a theoretical foundation for students to be successful coaching children, youth, adults and in collegiate and interscholastic athletics.

Courses and Curriculum

Coaching Minor Requirements

  • 18 credits required for minor completion
  • Students should meet with their academic advisor each semester and use to monitor their individual progress toward completion of the minor.

Minor Requirements

Upon successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

  1. Plan a practice or sport-related learning activity to enhance competency in a sport tactic or fundamental motor skill.
  2. Design sequential athletic or sport-related movement tasks that address diverse needs of all athletes.
  3. Analyze the impact of societal social issues on sport.
  4. Explain the rationale of a developed personal coaching philosophy.
